Samsung showing off numerous new displays at SID 2007 in Long Beach, CA
Samsung Electronics is showing off two of it’s leading displays at this year’s Society for Display 2007 exhibition being held in Long Beach CA. The first display is a 40 inch LCD TV with LED backlighting that was already awarded this year’s SID Gold Award for Display of the Year. The panel has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and color saturation 105% of the NTSC standard.
Samsung is also showing off the largest LCD TV currently available for mass production – a 70 inch LCD display with a proprietary 120Hz McFiTM (motion-compensated frame interpolation) technology. This means the display is capable of refreshening te motion picture images at twice the speed of standard 60Hz models – making moving images crystal clear.
Other interesting items on display from Samsung include:
- World’s largest (A4 sized) color electronic paper – a plastic flexible display that can deliver undistorted color images even when the surface is bent
- World’s largest (40 inches) black and white e-paper with HD resolution (1366 x 768) and power consumption of only 300 mW at one frame per minute
- 24 inch LCD monitor panel with LED backlight – with room for two A4 sized pages side to side
- Double sided 2.22 inch LCD panel for mobile phones
