Earlier in the year at CES 2007, Ricavision introduced a remote control reference design for Windows SideShow. Now several months later, Ricavision has announced that they are working on releasing their very own remote control for Windows SideShow called the RICA100. The new remote is targeted for a August 2007 release and will feature many Bluetooth improvements as well as many Microsoft recommended buttons for better control of Windows Media Center.

According to a press release from Ricavision, the RICA100 has a new improved Windows SideShow firmware and a new Bluetooth antenna which allows the remote to be used from 30 feet to 300 feet.  New buttons include:

  • REC TV for viewing recorded TV on a PC
  • LIVE TV for viewing live TV on a PC
  • DVD MENU button for well.. the DVD menu of course
  • The PLAY and PAUSE buttons are now also compatible with Media Center Extender requirements and new teletext buttons have been added to meet European market requirements
  • New scroll switch on right side for scrolling up and down the LCD screen
  • New mode selection switch on left side allows you to switch between SideShow mode and Media Center mode

The RICA100 now comes with a single integrated dociking cradle/RC6+Bluetooth Class 1 receiver. The RICA100 is expected in August of 2007 for an MSRP of $299.
