Forgot to post this one yesterday - Apple announced minor upgrades to their MacBook lineup giving their low end notebook lineup minor processor improvements. Notably missing from this upgrade is any mention of Intel’s new Centrino Duo platform which could also indicate the next generation of MacBook Pros will feature the new Intel chipset platform.  Let’s go over the details of the MacBook upgrades announced yesterday.

Starting at the bottom, we have the $1099 MacBook 13 inch model. You now get an Intel Core 2 Duo processor model T7200 running at 2GHz. Since the notebook doesn’t feature the Centrino Duo platform, you’re stuck with the old 667MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) as opposed to the newer 800MHz FSB. You’re also stuck with Intel GMA 950 graphics but you do get draft-n wireless standard now.. although that really isn’t a new feature.  Other features include an 80GB HDD, a DVD-ROM/CDRW drive, iSight camera, 1280 x 800 glossy display, Bluetooth 2.0 and iLife ‘06.

Next up is the $1299 MacBook which now comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor running at 2.16GHz. You get 1GB of RAM - but now it runs at 667 MHz as opposed to the older 533MHz. Other features include a 120GB HDD and an 8x DVD burner.

Finally, at the top of the MacBook world is the $1499 Black MacBook which now comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor running at 2.16GHz. Features include 1GB of RAM, and 160GB HDD. You get other build to order options including upgrades to HDD, memory, USB modem, mini-DVI to DVI adapters etc etc.
