Toshiba has introduced a new line of business class notebooks using the latest Intel Centrino Pro processor technology called the Tecra A9. As many of you already know, the Centrino Pro package consists of:

  1. Intel Core 2 Duo processor
  2. Mobile Intel 965 chipset
  3. Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN supporting the draft 802.11n wireless spec
  4. Intel Active Management Technology

The new Tecra A9 line features both the Centrino Pro technology and Toshiba’s third generation EasyGuard technology. EasyGuard consists of:

  • Shock absorbing design to better withstand accidental drops from heights up to one meter
  • HDD protection when notebook drops do occur
  • Spill resistant keyboard for those bad days in the office when the coffee spills

The initial configuration for the A9 is in the form of the A9-ST9001. It consists of:

  • Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition
  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7100 running at 1.8GHz
  • 1GB of memory
  • 80GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD
  • DVD SuperMulti drive supporting 11 formats
  • 15.4 inch widescreen TFT LCD display with 1280 x 800 resolution
  • Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
  • Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
  • Bluetooth 2.0 support

You can of course upgrade the components to fully support the Centrino Pro technology (which basically means you’ll get draft 802.11n support too). The base system costs $1159.
