It looks like the “One Laptop Per Child” (OLPC) initiative has suffered a minor setback as a representative of the project has confirmed that notebook shipments would be pushed back until the fourth quarter of this year. According to PC Magazine, the rep. denied that the delay was related to Quanta Computer – the company responsible for manufacturing the notebooks. The reason for the delay was supposedly due to design changes being made to improve the notebook’s performance.
According to OLPC, the notebook shipments are now targeting a mid-September timeframe. OLPC has also confirmed that 1 million orders for it’s laptops have been received for this year. You can read additional information at PC Magazine’s website.
