LaptopMag has published a new review of the Apple MacBook Pro 17 inch model here on their website. The system reviewed had the following specs:

  • 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor
  • OS X 10.4
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 160 GB HDD
  • 8X DVD+R DL, 6X DVD+/-RW drive
  • 17 inch widescreen display with a resolution of 1680 x 1050
  • ATI Mobility RADEON X1600 graphics
  • WiFi and Bluetooth support
  • Measures 15.4 x 10.4 x 1 inch and weighs 6.8 lbs

Yes.. even I find myself drooling at the MacBook Pro although realistically, I’d probably get a MacBook over a Pro since I don’t believe in spending that much money for a computer these days. Here’s the verdict from LaptopMag:

For the price, you could certainly get a faster 17-inch Windows notebook, even one with a high-def DVD drive (which Apple doesn’t yet offer). But it won’t have all the Apple software and hardware extras, it’ll weigh at least two pounds more, and it won’t look nearly as good.
