Intel introduced an update to the ultra-mobile PC platform at the Intel Developer Forum being held in Beijing China called the “Ultra Mobile Platform 2007″. The new platform was previously known as “McCaslin” and utilizes a new Intel processor designed specifically for small portable devices such as the UMPC.

News.com published several pictures of UMPC devices as well as mock-ups for the next generation Intel UMPC platform code named “Menlow”.

The current 2007 platform will work in conjunction with Microsoft’s Origami project which means it’ll run Windows Vista. However, Intel plans on rolling out support in 2008 for the Linux OS.
