The New York Times has published a short review of the upcoming Sidekick ID mobile phone which is due to launch on April 24th. As most of you know, the Sidekick ID is basically a stripped down version of the Sidekick 3 tailored to the youth out there thanks to it’s changeable faceplates.

Features of the Sidekick ID include:

  • Integrated QWERTY keyboard
  • Support for Yahoo, MSN, and AOL IM
  • Support for web browsing, email, text messaging
  • Changeable faceplates
  • Speakerphone
  • 2.5 inch color screen
  • Measures 5.1 x 2.5 x 0.9 inches
  • Weighs 6.2 oz
  • 5 hour talk time
  • 6 day standby time
  • Dual band GSM support (850 MHz and 1900 MHz)
  • Conference calling support

Here’s a blurb from the review:

Still, the Sidekick ID straddles the fine line between cool phone and smart phone with aplomb.
