Matsushita plans to launch world’s first 42 inch 1080p plasma display
According to PC Magazine, Matsushita Electric Industrial (maker of Panasonic products) announced earlier in the week that they would be launching the world’s first 42 inch plasma television sets with full HD panels on April 27th in Japan. Full HD Plasma models tend to occupy the 50+ inch range for television sets mostly because it gets more expensive for manufacturers when they want to build smaller models.
The new 42 inch Matsushita sets will sell between 410,000 yen to 430,000 yen (which translates to roughly $3449 to $3617 US dollars). They plan to manufacture 25,000 units a month for the domestic Japanese market with the international market shipping soon thereonafter.
