I guess someone in the “Geek Squad” was doing a bit more than geeking out eh? An LATimes.com article today talks about how a woman and her mother are suing Best Buy and their “Geek Squad” computer repair team. Why? Because a computer technician who was supposed to do work on their computer was also allegedly video taping the daughter in the shower.

The incident occurred in the City of Industry here in California and according to the LATimes article involved Geek Squad technician Hao Kuo Chi. The lawsuit claims that Chi came out to the home to do some computer work. He then asked to use the bathroom which was normally used by 22 year old Sarah Vasquez and her 13 year old daughter Kelly. This is where things get dicey. Chi supposedly sets up a cellphone in the bathroom while he’s there.

Later on, Vasquez decides to take a shower in the bathroom and when she finishes up, notices a suspicious cell phone on her cluttered sink. She went off to find her daughter and when they came back, the phone was gone. The younger daughter then found the phone in her bedroom and promptly removed the storage card inside the phone. The two of them brought the card to Verizon where technicians found videos of Chi setting up the phone in the bathroom. Chi was promptly arrested by the police. Now the family is bringing about a lawsuit against Best Buy and is “seeking compensatory and punitive damages for alleged fraud, negligent misrepresentation and hiring, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of warrant.”

Ah nothing like a Geek Squad agent taking the concept of “Personal Computer Help” a bit too far eh?
