ExtremeTech has published a review of the latest quad core processor from Intel – the high end Core 2 Extreme Edition QX6800. The latest version ups the clock speed to 2.93Ghz but that’s basically it. However, this new clock speed comes at a price – $1199 to be exact! So is it worth it? Here’s the verdict from ExtremeTech:

Intel pumps out a glory SKU in order to ratchet up the pain on AMD. But most users should steer clear and pay less money for either the QX6700 (if you need quad-core), or one of the mainstream Core 2 Duo CPUs.
