Hitachi Maxell introduces Removable Hard Drive iV
Hitachi Maxell Ltd has announced a new removable hard drive called the “Removable Hard Drive iV” designed to store copyright protected high definition video without quality loss. The new iV is an iVDR compatible drive and features a 160GB storage capacity, throughput of 540 Mbit/s, and SAFIA copyright protection.
The Hitachi Maxell Removable Hard Drive iV is designed to be used with iVDR compatible devices such as the Hitachi Wooo flat panel TV set. The iVDR consortium was created in March 2002 to allow vendors to easily transport copyright protected content from different platforms – say a home DVR to a portable video player. The new iV will come in both an 80 GB model and a 160GB model and will be released on April 10th.

- Measures 80 x 110 x 12.7 mm
- 80GB/160GB capacities
- 5400 RPM
- 540 Mbps data transfer rates
- SATA interface
