Windows Home Server reaches Beta 2 – sign up to be a beta tester
The Microsoft Windows Home Server team has announced that the Windows Home Server OS has reached the Beta 2 milestone. With the introduction of Beta 2, Microsoft is now accepting a broader group of external testers to try out the new OS. You can check out the blog posting on their website here.
If you’re interested in becoming a part of the beta program, then you can check out the application form here. In order to run Windows Home Server Beta 2, you’ll need a dedicated computer with at least the following specs:
- Intel Pentium 4 processor
- 512MB of RAM
- 2 or more internal hard drives with at least 300 GB of primary system hard drive space
- At least 2 client PCs
- Broadband connection
Again, if you’re interested, make sure to check out this link although the Home Server team is not guaranteeing everyone will be able to get into the Beta program. Ultimately the most common way of getting Windows Home Server will be via a integrated hardware/software purchase such as the HP MediaSmart Server.
