Here’s an interesting mobile device from HTC that was introduced at last week’s 3GSM Congress in Barcelona. It’s called the HTC Advantage (Model X7500) and it’s designed to fit between a high end PDA and a ultra-mobile like PC. Unlike Ultra-mobile PCs which run full fledged versions of Microsoft Windows, the HTC Advantage runs Windows Mobile 5 which seems a bit odd considering the device looks more like a UMPC than a PDA device (well actually it probably looks more like an oversized PDA)

Specs include:

  • 5 inch color TFT display with 640 x 480 touch screen
  • Integrated and detachable full keyboard
  • Tri-band 3G/HSDPA support
  • Quad Band GSM support
  • GPRS and EDGE support
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Wi-Fi
  • Integrated GPS with TomTom NAVIGATOR 6
  • 3 megapixel digital camera with auto focus and flash LED
  • 8 GB HDD
  • 256MB ROM
  • 128MB RAM
  • miniSD support

The Advantage is really designed and targeted for people who want larger keyboards and displays for their PDA devices. Of course.. once you’ve gotten to this size, one has to wonder whether you should just get an ultra-mobile PC instead.
