DigiTimes is reporting that Apple is planning to introduce a new line of 15.4 inch MacBooks during the second quarter of 2007. This new line would supplement the current line of Apple portables which consist of 13.3 inch MacBooks and 15.4 inch and 17 inch MacBook Pros.

According to the report, the new 15.4 inch MacBooks will be manufactured by the folks at Quanta Computer which also manufactures the high end 15.4 inch and 17 inch MacBook Pros. The current 13.3 inch MacBook line is manufactured by Asustek Computer. What remains to be seen is the selling point for these new 15.4 inch MacBook notebooks. Since 15.4 inch panels are going for a relatively low cost, it’s expected that these new notebooks will be fairly price competitive with the current lineup of notebooks as well as the competition.
