Additional info on the JVC GZ-HD7 Everio HD camcorder
CamcorderInfo has published some additional interesting information on the recently announced JVC GZ-HD7 Everio camcorder here. What stands out with the new JVC 60GB Everio camcorder is it’s use of a high data rate MPEG-2 codec as opposed to the AVCHD MPEG-4 codec used by both Sony and Panasonic. Why does this matter? The MPEG-2 codec is more mature than the AVCHD codec, has more software support, and has a much higher data rate than AVCHD. CamcorderInfo’s early tests have found that while the AVCHD codec produces sharp video out, there have been noise issues also.
