Onkyo’s new HD audio products including the HDC-1.0 Audio PC
Onkyo Japan has a couple of new products that should interest the audiophiles out there. The core new product is the Onkyo HDC-1.0 HD Audio PC featuring support for 24 bit, 96kHz HD audio. At first glance you might think the HDC-1.0 is a Media Center PC, but we’re sorry to say that it’s not. The system comes with Microsoft’s Windows Vista Home Basic edition which does not come with Media Center. The PC does come with Onkyo’s own CarryOn Music 10 audio software solution which clearly defines this PC as an audio oriented system. Specs on the HDC-1.0 include the following:
- HD audio – 24 bit, 96 kHz support
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- Windows Vista Home Basic
- 1GB memory
- 120GB HDD
- DVD
- RCA I/O, SPDIF I/O
- Onkyo SE-90 PCI Sound Card
I’ll tell you what I would do if I got this PC – I’d install Windows Vista Home Premium, install a TV tuner and turn it into a full fledged Media Center PC!
Finally, according to Akihabara News, Onkyo is releasing two other companion products. The first is an integrated amplifier called the A-905HD (pictured below).
The second product is SPX-1 speaker system designed to work with the HDC-1.0. If you can read Japanese (which we can’t), then make sure to check out the Onkyo website for additional information.
