EverythingUSB has the inside scoop on some interesting happenings over at SanDisk. They’re apparently testing out a new product which they call the USB TV product. The concept is pretty straightforward. SanDisk as you all know, is a major flash drive manufacturer. They’ve built products designed around flash memory – everything from portable storage media devices to MP3 players which use flash memory. SanDisk’s USB TV initiative turns portable flash drives into small portable video players. There’s no screen you say – that’s right! There isn’t any. The purpose of the USB drives is to connect to television displays and watch whatever content is stored on the USB dongle.  Throw in a high resolution MPEG-4 movie on the 2GB flash drive and you’ve got yourself a portable movie player.

No word on the exact specifications but I would imagine this device would support the standard video formats. Stay tuned for more info.
