If there was one thing I noticed at CES 2007 this year – it was the lack of booth babes all around the conference. Sure there were a couple here and there – but surely not what you’d expect from a geek.. errum.. consumer electronics conference. There was ONE vendor who did employ quite a number of “booth babes” at CES 2007 and that vendor was Vonage. The ladies were .. how shall we say it.. easy to distinguish against the backdrop of thousands of attendees.

Now.. really folks – have you ever wondered what life is like for a booth babe? Ever wonder what it’s really like to stand around marketing a technical product? Well the good folks at ThinkComputers have posted an interview with a Vonage booth babe (named Kat Garrow) and have promptly entitled the article “What it’s like to be a booth babe”. You can find the interview here on their website.

Although I don’t honestly know what it’s like to be a booth babe, I do know what it’s like to man a booth at a show like CES .. and man.. it’s tiring! Your jaw hurts from all the talking (shouting and otherwise) that you have to do and all the constant smiling that you need to do. Your back hurts from all the standing that you need to do.. and finally your brain hurts from all the facts and figures you need to spout all the time.

OK.. enough about what it’s like manning a booth. Let’s find out what it’s like to be a booth babe (do they really like being called a booth babe???)
