The Microsoft Zune management team is shuffling around a little bit. Bryan Lee who is the current Corporate VP for the Entertainment Business (which includes the Zune) is stepping down and retiring to pursue “personal interests”. Taking over the Zune product line will be the Xbox wonder man - J.Allard. Allard is typically credited for the success of the Xbox platform which includes the console and the Xbox Live Network.

Now according to Microsoft, the retirement of Bryan Lee wasn’t an indication of his performance or the Zune’s performance thus far. The company has repeatedly stated that they’re in the digital music business for the long haul and that they face an uphill battle. Um yeah. No doubt, J. Allard will face a tough time in building up the Zune brand name but honestly – if anyone can perform this task, it would have to be J. Allard.

As pointed out by ZuneSphere, this move could signal an even tighter integration between the Microsoft Xbox platform and the Microsoft Zune platform.. which could be pretty darn exciting for Zune fans out there. We’ll have to wait and see.
