Yup.. we’re a few hours away from the launch of Windows Vist and I think this quote from ExtremeTech summarizes it all:
“Windows Vista is launching. Fab. Now when’s that service pack release again?”
Hilarious folks, but sadly this is so true - at least it is for the people who cover the industry and for casual blog reporters like us. In so many ways, I am Vista’d out. I gloss over new articles and features about Vista.. I look the other way and instead get hung up over a USB dog that humps the USB port.. go figure!
However, there is an important thing going on here and it’s a much more subtle thing brought on by the ExtremeTech article. We don’t really know what the affect of Vista will be on the upcoming applications (good and bad). We don’t know what new bright ideas will be coming out from various third parties as a result of the new Aero UI. We also don’t know what disastrous code could be written to destroy that desktop of yours. It’s certainly the dawn of a new era now for Microsoft.. and things kick off tonight in stores all across the country. However, you’ll excuse me if I yawn a little bit. As I said before, I am all Vista’d out (and Jack Bauer holds more interest than Vista).
