We were looking to get Grandma a replacement for her windows ME machine and since we don't know Vista wanted to get an XP machine (it just works). In the end we had to go online to find a machine, it seems that we're a couple week late in finding XP in the store. Since I'm a Mac guy and my wife got an XP laptop last year we aren't moving to Vista but since we are Grandma's primary troubleshooters we didn't feel that Vista would be good for her. Oh, she lives 3000 miles away and we 'troubleshoot' over the phone. We're going to get the machine, remove all of the Crap that gets installed by default, install AVG and then ship it to her. Sadly you still can't buy a computer without way too much crap (Aol, Nortons, etc) and Trialware on it.
