YouTube to share revenue for original works
Here’s an interesting development over at YouTube. According to this blog posting over at CNET, YouTube is planning to unveil a revenue sharing program with people who upload original, uncopyrighted videos. However, in order for this to happen, YouTube will need to prescreen the 100+ million videos it receives daily which would be an interesting challenge for the company.
Of course, there’s a theory that Google will probably have some sort of automated video/image/pattern matching software in place to detect copyrighted material vs. uncopyrighted materials. YouTube hopes that a move like this will encourage original video work to flourish on the site. It will probably also signal a more monitored analysis of uploaded content.
