Windows Home Server could be made available to DIY folks

Are you thrilled about the concept of Windows Home Server but not thrilled about the notion of having to buy an entire hardware platform from a vendor? Well there’s a chance that Microsoft may make Windows Home Server available to systems builders – aka the DIY field. Yup.. build your own system and install Windows Home Server right onto it. This isn’t confirmed of course so until it is, your best bet is still going to be HP’s MediaSmart Server.
Speaking of HP’s MediaSmart Server, thanks to Colin Walker of Randomelements, we have some more specs on the machine here.
- 1.8GHz AMD Sempron processor
- Up tp four 750GB HDD and four USB ports for a max total capacity of 6 TB with all ports and interfaces filled
- Windows Media Connect media stream capability
- Up to 10 user accounts can access the server
