Pioneer MT-01 Power Line Audio System
Pioneer brings Power Line Networking to home audio with the MT-01 Power Line Audio System. The concept is simple – drop the need for speaker cables and connect the speakers directly to the power line. The speakers receive both power and audio signals over a regular power line.
The standard MT-01 package is made up of a Sound Station unit, a large 2 x 25 watt Network Speaker, a small 5 watt Network Speaker, and a keyring sized remote control.
The Sound Station unit has 5 inputs including:
- Two USB terminals
- One front audio input
- Two analog inputs
You can connect an MP3 player, iPod, flash memory stick, PC, or existing audio system to the Sound Station and hear the music in multiple rooms. The Pioneer Sound System also supports multi-room playback for up to two different audio sources connected to the Sound System. Finally, the smaller network speaker has an integrated motion sensor which detects when to start playing music in a designated room.
You can also purchase the large and small speakers separately from the base package.
Honestly, I’m a bit dubious on sending audio over power lines but I guess I’ll have to hear it for myself to see what it’s actually like!
