Apple may charge $30 dollars to OS X Tiger owners
If you’re using Apple’s Boot Camp software to dual boot OS X and Windows XP, be prepared for the possibility that you’ll need to purchase the software down the road. Rumors are swirling on the Net that Apple may end up charging $29.99 for Boot Camp to current OS X Tiger users. This rumor, published over at NewsFactor.com, is supposedly coming from MacScoop which claims to have some inside information that Apple will indeed charge OS X Tiger users $29.99 for the final version of Boot Camp. The NewsFactor article does point out that Apple is planning to make Boot Camp for free for people who purchase OS X Leopard when it launches later this spring.
Personally, I don’t see a big deal in paying $30 bucks for a piece of software that let’s you run Windows on the same box as Mac OS X. Of course, free would be ideal, but Apple isn’t exactly asking for $100 bucks or something. You also have other choices if you’re not happy with Boot Camp and as we all know, choice is good.
