Now you know I don’t normally post things about computer power supplies but this Young Year YP-AB Transparent Power Supply was novel enough to get mentioned here today. Why ? Well the name says it all if you ask me – it’s a transparent power supply!

A transparent PSU is really only useful to people who have computer cases that have some sort of side window or even the ability to see some parts of the inside. I’m one of those folks who have a PC with a modded side window.. so naturally I was interested in reading about this unit over at Hardware Secrets. This PSU unit is also sold under the Aspire/Apevia brand but unfortunately the folks at Hardware Secrets found that the inside is nothing more than a low end “Trashy” power supply.

Here’s the ultimate verdict:

This power supply is a bad Chinese joke. Outside it is beautiful, but inside it is nothing but a very low-end generic unit.
