Curious how tech saavy your city really is? Well this article over at Wired lists the top ten 10 towns in the country.. most of which I agree except for my  own city (Los Angeles). They base their analysis by crunching numbers on the following criteria:

  • Proximity to top ranked engineering schools
  • Tech jobs, per capita, on Dice
  • Personal ads, per capita, on Geek 2 Geek
  • Craigslist postings per capita
  • Number of attendees at local meetings of dorkbot, a group for “people doing strange things with electricity”
  • Availability of free WiFi
  • Comic book stores per  capita
  • Circuit City stores per capita

Yeah.. reallllll scientific.. I know. I totally disgree on the last bullet – Circuit City stores per capita. It should be BestBuy stores per capita folks.

Anyhow, their top ten is as follows:

  • Seattel
  • San Francisco Bay area
  • Los Angeles (what the?)
  • Austin
  • Orlando
  • Raleigh Durham
  • Pittsburgh
  • New York City (Go BIG APPLE!)
  • Boston
  • Washington DC (what the heck??)
