Since we’re on this topic of Windows SideShow devices (with the RICAVISION Windows Vista SideShow Remote Control earlier), I might as well show you some of the pictures that I took from CES 2007 on various SideShow enabled devices at the Microsoft booth.

The above remote is the new Philips SRM7500 which is due out in the first quarter of 2007. This remote feaures:

  • Two way RF technology so there’s no need for line of sight communications to the PC
  • Bright 6 line display that offers users complete flexibilty to view and select their content – such as music playlists etc
  • Enhanced universal remote features with support for practically all home equipment out there

I apologize here – I’m not entirely sure who manufactures the above remote control – but it might be from TopSeed. If anyone knows, please correct or confirm me here!

Here’s the Interlink SideLink Remote Control. Some specs on this bad boy.

  • Utilizes Bluetooth
  • 2.5 inch color QVGA display (320 x 240 resolution)
  • Navigate and view Media Center content directly on the remote
  • Select songs, schedule recordings, navigate video clips and photographs, display TV program guides, and browse recorded TV shows on remote
  • 100 feet range

Interlink also introduced another remote control (not pictured here) called the Microsoft approved Remote Control for Windows Vista Media Center. Features include:

  • 44 button remote
  • Dedicated Windows Vista Media Center button
  • for OEM customers

Here’s a prototype Windows Vista Remote Control from SMK. Features include:

  • Available to OEMs, ODMs, and IHVs
  • Remotely navigate Windows Media Center and browse TV guide, select programs, and schedule recordings
  • Select and play music, pictures, and videos
  • Bluetooth support

SMK also announced an IR based remote control for Windows Vista shown above. It comes with a dedicated Windows Media Center start button and has a USB based transceiver device. Features include:

  • Support for Windows Media Center green button
  • USB transceiver has a learning function for remote control signals
  • LED on IR blaster indicates presence of an IR transmission signal
  • Measures 210 x 50 x 25.2 mm
  • Available starting this month.

The above SideShow enabled laptop is from LG Electronics and it’s called the Z1. This notebook will be available in February and features:

  • Access email, calendar, alerts, RSS feeds, stock quotes, scores, etc on the SideShow display
  • 2.5 inch QVGA display for the SideShow display
  • Sync up to 1GB of music and photos for playback on the secondary display
  • Touch sensitive touch buttons on the front cover

And finally, we’ve got the ASUS W5Fe notebook which we talked about earlier here.

One final note – Logitech’s Z-10 Speaker System will offer SideShow support starting in Q2 of this year. The hardware is available now of course.
