WowWee introduces full linup of new robots for 2007
WowWee had a strong presence at CES 2007 this week with a full lineup of new products for the coming year. These new products include:
Seriously – the RS Media is one awesome looking robot with full multimedia capabilities! It takes the Robosapien concept a step further by adding a full color LCD screen, hand mounted tweeters, and a back mounted woofer! There’s a USB connector that allows you to connect the RS Media to your PC. Why would you connect it to your PC?
Well you can upload songs or videos (MP3 or MP4 files). You can use a personal editor to edit all his movements, sounds files, video files, and even some of his programming. The RS Media is fully programmable so you can switch the robot between one of four different personalities or create your own (just great! We’ve got Sybil on our hands here)
You can import photos or watch movies thanks to an external memory slot and you can even have the RS Media take a picture or record a movie thanks to it’s built in color camera!! The RS Media will be available this year for $299.
FlyTech Dragonfly
The Dragonfly was my personal favorite at the WowWee booth - simply because I think Dragonflies are cool in general and any toy that’s capable of flying is just plain COOL.
The FlyTech Dragonfly features a dual wing design and what WowWee calls a “high-flex” crash resistant structure. You can literally have the Dragonfly take off and land on flat surfaces and maneuver around tight spaces.. pretty sweet. The Dragonfly will go for $39.99.
Roboquad
These bad boys look like something from Starship Troopers if you ask me.. but they’re also full of new high tech features!
This four legged creature is capable of maneuvering in all directions and at three different speeds too. The Roboquad features a deep IR scanner to help it spot movements up to 13 feet away and a sound sensor to react quickly to sounds. It even has light sensors to help it navigate in the dark.
The new Roboquad will be available this year for $119.
Robopanda
Come on now – who doesn’t love pandas? They’re soft, cuddly, and cute.
The Robopanda comes with no controllers because you really don’t need one with this cute thing. You simply interact with it in a natural way – touching it or activating the many sensors included in the body of the robot.
The panda has IR vision and stereo sound sensors which allow him to track objects, avoid obstacles, and pinpoint sound sources. It’s animated, talkative, and playful so it’ll be tons of fun for your kids or cousins or heck.. your significant other!
Best of all – the Robopanda even comes witha plush mini-Robopanda accessory which he can recognize and talk to. The panda will be available this year for $229.
Roboboa
The above pictures are prototype shots of the Roboboa robot from WowWee. The Roboboa is basically a snake-like smart desk lamp which also features:
- Wake up alarm
- Room guard
- disco marquee
- roving tank
- safety light
- Playful cannon
Crazy huh? Thie Roboboa is fully controllable, interactive, and best of all, programmable. It’s going to sell for $119.
