With MacWorld literally just around the corner, I thought I’d list some of products that are rumored to be unveiled at the event in San Francisco. Thanks to information at both AppleInsider and from News.com/Reuters, here’s what we think we know.
- Apple iPhone product (though probably not named the iPhone) – rumored to be a combination mobile phone and iPod device. Some rumors place the phone to be introduced at this MacWorld while others are proposing the phone will come out later during the first half of 2007
- Apple iTV product (though it won’t be named iTV probably) – we all know this is coming since it was formally announced last September.. question is – what else is going to be unveiled with the device? Could there be an internal hard drive on the iTV?
- New Apple iPods with a possible widescreen display and integrated wireless features
- It now seems less likely that Apple will introduce a 12 inch MacBook Pro system – but nevertheless the rumor is still there.
AppleInsider has additional rumors about the phone which are interesting:
- There could be a second iPhone smartphone with an integrated keyboard to be released later on in the year
- There could be two versions of the iPhone – a 4GB model and an 8GB model
- iPhone may have an iSight like camera integrated
- Phone is supposedly going to be available through multiple carriers although Cingular may get exclusive initial access
As you can tell, lots of things in store for Apple at MacWorld.. heck, most of the rumors don’t even center on the Mac platform but rather on the digital living room now. The Apple Mac is becoming more a platform for delivering content to other digital enabling devices like iTV, iPod, and iPhone. Of course, as long as Apple makes the stuff accessible from Windows, it’s likely that Windows systems will still continue to rule the roost in the home office.. just maybe not the living room as was expected by some.
