ThinkComputers has published a review of the ASUS WL-500W Multi-functional Wireless Router here on their website. The ASUS WL-500W utilizes the latest 802.11n draft MIMO to achieve a supposed greater than 100 Mbps throughput speed.
Features of the ASUS WL-500W include (taken from the ASUS website):
- Draft 802.11n compliant, fully compatible with 802.11b/g
- Suitable for seamless multimedia stream
- EZSetup for network security – Automatically configure SSID and WPA or WEP encryption
- Plug-n’-Share hard drive function via USB 2.0
- ASUS Download Master – Download anytime even when the PC is off or disconnected
- Printer Server
- WebCAM server
- FTP server
Here’s the verdict from ThinkComputers:
I really like the WL-500W, in fact, I will probably replace my WHR-HP-G54 with it, provided DD-WRT supports it in a future release, as the ASUS stock firmware does not provide the amount of control I need. That, and it’s really ugly.
