VTech introduces new landline phones featuring Internet connectivity
Home phones are simply getting cooler folks. VTech Communications has announced the new ip8300 infoPhone – an Internet enabled cordless landline telephone which provides a convenient way to check e-mail, news, sports, weather, and horoscopes – all without connecting to your home PC.
The VTech ip8300 infoPhone breathes new life into the languishing world of the home phone. Let’s face it – in a world of mobile or VoIP phones – who cares about the normal home phone right? Well the VTech ip8300 infoPhone attempts to make your home phone the center of your attention again.
Features of the ip8300 include:
- High resolution 64K Color LCD screen
- Displays news headlines, weather reports, horoscopes, local directory searches and more
- dedicated key for one touch access to personalized valuable information
- Connected to the Internet via a dedicated connection on the phone systems’ base station
- Send and receive emails and IMs
- Uses DECT 6.0 technology which operates on the 1.9GHz frequency
- Expandable to five handsets using the ip831 accessory handset
- Caller ID/Call Waiting
- Hands-free speakerphone
- Visual message waiting handset
- Visual Message waiting indicator
- Individual profile and settings via password protected login
- Built in Ethernet port
The ip8300 is due in March of 2007 for a price of $129.95
VTech also introduced a new WiFi landline phone called the wf6972. This phone uses WiFi to connect the handset to a PC for content delivery. Features of the $179.95 wf6972 include:
- 802.11 WiFi support
- Wirelessly access news, sports, or weather text updates on handsets
- Wirelessly share phonebook directories between handsets
- High resolution 65K color LCD screen
- Expandable up to 16 handsets using the wf6909 accessory handset
- Dual Caller ID/Call Waiting
- Speakerphone in handset and base
- Intercom, transfer, and conference between four handsets at one time
- Digital Answering System
- Picture Caller ID
The wf6972 will become available in April of 2007.
