Toshiba gigabeat MEV30K Review
The folks at LaptopMag have published their look at the Toshiba gigabeat MEV30K Portable Media Center device here on their website. The MEV30K is somewhat like a goofy big brother to the Toshiba gigabeat S60 portable media center which we looked at earlier in the month. Although it has a bigger screen and a longer battery life, there really isn’t a whole lot going for it apparently. Here are some of the weird things that the MEV30K exhibited:
- The thumb control while a good idea is “downright strange” according to LaptopMag
- Nice big screen but a darn low resolution at 320 x 240
- Can’t charge via the USB port – ok that’s retarded folks. You can charge the S60 via the USB port so why can’t you do the same with the MEV30K?
Sad sad sad.. So here’s a blurb from the review:
It’s moderately pleasing in a 2004 first-generation-PMP sort of way. But it doesn’t have the “gotta-have-it” factor that graces the Archos 604, the 5.5G iPod, or even Toshiba’s own gigabeat S.
