Bruce - thanks for visiting! I definitely concur to your assessment there. One would assume that there would be some sort of fix for this without needing to spend yet more money. Perhaps you can call into TomTom and demand the map upgrade to be free?
What about other GPS devices? Do they have similar mapping problems for your home?

I am very glad TomTom is releasing updated North American maps; however, I am very disappointed in their handling of customer satisfaction issues that are related to mapping deficiencies.

In my case, I purchased a Rider two months ago at the very high price of about $800. It’s a decent unit, but there is one major flaw that has yet to be resolved–It will not navigate to my home–not by address and not by GPS position. TomTom customer service says it is related to the current mapping database, and my location seems to be impacted (Southern California??). I was told during the past two months that a map update would resolve the problem.

I frankly do not believe it is very customer focused to expect a patient customer who has already paid $800 for a navigation unit that will not navigate to the home location to pay another $50 to resolve it. Just my opinion–but I am expecting better treatment from this company.
