So you’re concerned that your kids are not getting enough exercise simply because they’re sitting in front of the TV all day long watching television or playing video games. Here’s the perfect solution – it comes in the form of a product called the Gamercycle. Your kid has to ride an exercise cycke in order for the TV picture to remain on. If he or she stops pedaling the bike, the screen goes OFF. Simple yet effective!

The Gamercycle is an ergonomic, recumbent cycle that’s designed for children AND adults (gee I hope my wife doesn’t get this product for me!). It’ll work with all of your game consoles, DVD players, VHS systems, cable systems etc. Think of it as “pedal-to-play”. Heck the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club of Kosciusko/Attala County, Mississippi selected it for use.. so.. it’s gotta be good!

A side note: For some reason, the usage of the Gamercycle reminds me of motion sensor enabled bathroom sinks. You know.. the kind where you have to wave your hand in front of the sensor in order to get  the water to come out? Wave your hand.. water comes out.. wave your hand.. a little  more water comes out - but it’s almost never enough water! You end up getting a small workout with your hands just to wash your hands with the water! Same goes with the Gamercycle I suppose. If the kid wants to play video games, make them work for it by riding a bike (someone’s going to have awfully strong legs at the end of the day!). Somehow.. they may end up disliking you for a bit also.

Connect PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii to Gamercycle for Healthy Play

AUSTIN, Texas –(Business Wire)– Dec. 14, 2006 Gamercycle is the perfect holiday addition to the hottest video game consoles like PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Parents, YMCAs, community centers, schools and children’s hospitals are finding Gamercycle a great part of a family’s exercise program.

And the pedal-to-play exercise/game system has been selected for use in Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club Kosciusko/Attala County, Mississippi.

“The bikes are innovative and easy to operate. They make exercising more fun!” said Kelvin McGruder, CEO of Boys and Girls Club Kosciusko/Attala County. “Gamercycle, which children must pedal to enable viewing of the video game, will be included this spring in the club’s MBS (Mind Body and Soul) program,” McGruder said.

“Don’t feel guilty about buying a game console for your children. They get exercise when playing games with Gamercycle,” said Bob Day, Gamercycle creator, President and Chief Technology Officer. “Ms. Winfery and Mr. McGruder recognize the importance of exercise in creating a healthy lifestyle for children and adults. We look forward to working with them as we focus on delivering fun and fitness to families.”

The Gamercycle is an ergonomic, recumbent exercise cycle for children and adults that connects with your game console and television screen. Your gamer pedals, the TV picture remains ON.
