As expected, PS3 and Wii sales top Xbox 360 sales in Japan
Was there any surprise really? Did anyone really think the Xbox 360 would outsell the Nintendo Wii or the PS3? Yeah.. we didn’t think so either. So it comes to no surprise that both the Wii and the PS3 have already outsold the 360 in Japan. During it’s first month, Sony sold approximately 190,000 PS3′s compared to Microsoft’s 180,000 Xbox 360′s for the ENTIRE year. Sony still came in second to Nintendo which sold 400,000 Wii’s during the first month of availability.
Things could still change for Microsoft of course – the hotly anticipated RPG game, Blue Dragon, is now available for purchase which could spur sales of 360 consoles.
In other news, Nintendo retracted earlier statements about its’ ability to ship 1 million Wii consoles in North America by the end of the year. It looks like Nintendo will be suffering shortages of the Wii afterall.
