Belkin Cable-Free USB Hub available for purchase in mid-December
Sweet - Belkin announced that their Cable-Free USB Hub (F5U301) will be available for purchase here in the US starting in mid-December - that’s right around the corner! The Cable-Free USB Hub is the first USB hub that does not require a cable to connect to the computer - that’s right - this frees your computer from USB cable hell. (sorta - you still have cables running to the hub but now you can place that hub somewhere else!).
The Belkin Cable-Free USB Hub utilizes Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology with the Wisair chipse to make this all possible. Here are the main features of the Cable-Free USB hub:
- Gives desktop-computer users the freedom to place their USB devices anywhere in the room without running long cables
- Laptop users gain the freedom to roam wirelessly with their laptops around the room while still maintaining access to their stationary USB devices
- Connects USB printers, cameras, scanners, and other devices to your computer wirelessly, from up to 30 ft. away
- Transfers data at speeds of up to 480Mbps for USB 2.0 devices
- Includes a 4-port Hub, a USB Dongle (that connects into your computer), and a Dongle stand to give you optimum wireless reception
The device will have a retail price of $199.99 - a bit high for a USB hub so you can expect only early adopters to be looking at this for now.

All you’d need is a small USB dongle to communicate directly to the USB hub. [...]
