Ah I’ve been waiting for someone to review one of these iPod video dock systems. Finally, LaptopMag has published their review of the Sonic Impact Video 55 here on their website. Everytime I walk into BestBuy and go near the digital music player section, I see tons of similar devices on sale and I really do wonder – how do they perform?
Before we jump into the verdict from LaptopMag, I thought I’d outline some of the features found on the Sonic Impact Video 55. They are as follows:
- Has two aluminum cone neodymium drivers
- Class D digital amp
- Advanced Maxxbass technology to enhance bass response
- Hard case designed to protect the iPod and the built in screen
- Powered by three-phase lithium ion rechargeable battery which provides 3+ hours of battery life
- Has battery charge display lights to help notify you when the battery is running low
- 1.2 watts per channel
- 5 hour charging time
- 7 inch widescreen LCD with 480 x 234 resolution
Not too bad in terms of specs. Oh and why would one get this? Well if you’ve bought into the whole iPod/iTunes video concept, then you’d probably want something a bit larger in display than the screen found within the current iPod – especially if you’re on long trips. Well that’s what the Sonic Impact Video 55 provides – a larger display for those videos on the iPod.
Ok.. so here’s LaptopMag’s verdict:
If you can get past the price tag-and don’t mind the inevitable smudges-the Video 55 is a good choice for supersizing your iPod’s videos on the go.
