TUSTIN, Calif. –(Business Wire)– Dec. 4, 2006 silex technology america, Inc. today announced the availability of wiDock, a wireless dock for the iPod(R) that allows users to transfer songs and videos.
wiDock, the world’s first iPod dock that allows wireless syncing with iTunes, is now available for purchase from silex technology america (http://www.silexamerica.com) and various retail outlets. When using wiDock, there is no more moving the iPod back and forth between the PC/Mac and living room to sync with iTunes. wiDock is the only place users will need to dock their iPod.
CrunchGear.com, a blog covering gadgets, gear and computer hardware, wrote in a recent article titled, “Why wiDock: Why not?”: “If you want a charging cradle for your iPod, but not a pesky USB cable, this is for you. Plug your iPod into the dock, as you would any other dock, and it syncs your iTunes and iPod. The neat trick is, it does it all without wires. Isn’t that fantastic? We think it is.”
For retailers, wiDock is a product that will benefit their customers by adding more functionality and applications that fit their lifestyles. Jack Wahrman, Sr. Mdse Mgr at J&R (http://www.jr.com), said, “wiDock answers a direct need that has echoed from many iPod users for a while now – the ability to sync wirelessly.”
With over 70 million iPods sold, wiDock is targeted at the growing user base. The iPod is the world’s most popular digital music and portable video player; additionally there are currently more than 3,000 accessories made specifically for iPod that range from fashionable cases to speaker systems.
With wiDock, silex has developed an innovative solution for this growing market. “As we leveraged our foundation in the device connectivity industry and evaluated the iPod accessory market, we felt it was important to provide a wireless solution for the transferring of songs and videos to an iPod,” said Keith Sugawara, general manager of the connectivity and wireless division at silex. “At the same time, we wanted to eliminate the need of moving the iPod between the computer, charger and the TV/stereo and provide a solution that will result in a must-have accessory for all iPod users.”
