Windows Mobile 6.0 for PPC (Crossbow) OS Review
Mobile-Review.com has posted an excellent review of the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 OS for PocketPC devices (otherwise known as Crossbow) here on their website. The new OS really isn’t that significant of an upgrade to necessarily warrant a major version number change- in fact Mobile-Review.com says it could really be called “Windows Mobile 5.0 Second Edition”. I suppose Microsoft wanted to ride the wave of new product releases with Vista and Office 2007 coming out shortly to the public.
Some of the enhancements to Crossbow as mentioned by Mobile-Review include:
- Improvements and updates to Outlook Mobile
- New themes inspired by Vista
- Integrated with Windows Live services
- Live Messenger Mobile
- Support for VoIP
- Smart Dial 2.0 integration into PPC
Here’s the verdict from the article:
Launch of devices based on Windows Mobile Crossbow will strengthen Microsoft’s position on the market of enterprise devices, as Windows Mobile-powered solutions, sooner or later, will be treated as complementary products with MS Exchange.
