Xbox 360 Video Marketplace Issues
Here I was, getting nice and comfy on my living room sofa and getting ready to check out the new Xbox 360 Video Marketplace. I turn on the 360, go to the Marketplace location and decide to purchase an episode of South Park. It’s a 200+ MB file so I expected the download to take some time – even on my 6mbps connection – yet the download was supposedly finished in a mere 5 seconds. What the heck?
I try playing the video but guess what? It’s not South Park afterall but some other short video clip. What the heck? I delete the file and try and download the show again. This time I get a different video clip. WEIRD.
I exit back out to the Marketplace but the menu system seemed to revert back to the menu system from prior to the launching of the Video Marketplace. What to do? I hop onto Xbox.com and discover many other people with similar issues to what I had encountered. It looks like the entire service is witnessing problems supposedly due to the heavy demand for content today. Hmm.. seems more like Microsoft underestimated what the service could handle.
I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer before reviewing the Video Marketplace. Day one went by and things aren’t looking too great. BTW, Microsoft issued a response over at Kotaku.com.
