While we’re waiting for the official PlayStation 3 launch here in the US, the folks in Japan had their taste of the PlayStation 3 launch this past weekend. Over 1200 people lined up at Bic Cameras’ flagship store in central Tokyo waiting in the cold and hoping to score a PS3 unit. Bic Camera announced that all of its PlayStation 3 stocks were gone by noon this past Saturday. Sony has apparently only made 100,000 units available in Japan for the PS3 launch. As great as the PS3 will probably be, it’s a shame that Sony was unable to meet production demands.

Now that Japan has been taken care of, we here in the US can wait for the launch later on this week. In the meantime, check out CNET’s look at the PS3.

One last thing – I dropped by at my local BestBuy store earlier today and they already had their PS3 demo unit up and running for customers to play with. Go drop by your local BestBuy to check out the PS3.
