What do you get when you have a night of free drinks, free food, awesome music, and the Microsoft Zune? You get the Microsoft Zune Preview Party at the Element (in Los Angeles) of course! And that’s where we were at last night. Yes sir – a night of fun celebrating the coming release of the Microsoft Zune.

Microsoft had two artists on hand for the party – Jason Bentley and Bitter:Sweet. We unfortunately got there a bit too late for Jason Bentley but we did catch Bitter:Sweet’s performance which was quite good. I’m definitely going to check out their stuff now (and for those of you wondering – some of their tracks are on the Zune).

Of course the night is not complete without a look at the Zune itself and we took a lot of pictures of this player.

(but if I can summarize my impressions – “I LIKE IT” would suffice) Here’s a video clip that I took of the Zune – I must apologize for taking the video on its side – I was a wee bit buzzed and not thinking straight. Am I even talking straight in this video?

 

There was also a section specifically for accessories and man – there were some large bad ass speakers hanging out in a showroom case.

Finally, it was an LA party which means – pretty people of course!

 

Great night – lots of drinks and food.. did we mention the free drinks again? And you know what? I like the Zune. Yes – it’s not quite as feature complete as say the iPod but it’s a pretty darn good first effort. The player feels good in the hand – the user interface is snappy – the marketing campaign is awesome.
