silex technology america (I took a doubletake with the name - reminded me of Sylar from Heroes) is introducing a new iPod dock called the wiDock. The wiDock’s claim to fame is wireless connectivity. It’s the first dock to wirelessly sync songs and videos from a computer to an iPod - no more moving the iPod from one location to the computer just to sync up.

Now you can do all of your activities from a sync dock located wherever it’s most convenient for you. Features of the silex wiDock include:

  • Play the iPod on your stereo or TV set
  • Continuously charge the iPod
  • Control the iPod using the Apple remote
  • Connect to 802.11 b/g wireless networks
  • Supports WEP, WPA, WPA2
  • Connects to 10/100 wired networks
  • 3.5 mm audio output
  • S-Video output

The wiDock will be available starting in December for a suggested retail price of $149 which includes the wiDock, 6 feet 3.5 mmm to 2x RCA audio cable, AC adapter, setup guide and an installation CD.

CONNECT, CHARGE AND WIRELESSLY SYNCHRONIZE AN iPodâ„¢ WITH wiDock
– silex technology america launches wiDock and gives Apple iPodâ„¢ users the ability to
wirelessly transfer songs and videos –

New York (CES Unveiled; Booth 22) – Nov. 8, 2006 – silex technology america, Inc. today launched wiDock, a wireless dock for the Apple iPod™ that allows users to transfer songs and videos.
wiDock is the first solution to transfer songs and videos to an iPod wirelessly while connected to a stereo and TV, becoming an integral part of the living room entertainment system.
With wiDock, there is no more moving the iPod back and forth between the PC/Mac and living room to sync with iTunes. Users can wirelessly sync with a computer, play music from the stereo, play videos on the TV and charge the iPod battery. wiDock is the only place users will need to dock their iPod.
wiDock is targeted at the growing number of iPod users, which industry analysts have estimated numbers just over 68 million people – including 39 million iPods sold during the last 12 months alone. NPD Group, a research firm, estimates that for every $3 spent on an iPod, at least $1 is spent on an accessory. Predictions estimate that sales of iPod accessories will easily soar beyond $1 billion this year.
With the launch of wiDock, silex has developed an innovative solution for this growing market. “As we leveraged our foundation in the device connectivity industry and evaluated the iPod accessory market, we felt it was important to provide a wireless solution for the transferring of songs and videos to an iPod,” said Keith Sugawara, general manager of the connectivity and wireless division at silex. “At the same time, we wanted to eliminate the need of moving the iPod between the computer, charger and the TV/stereo and provide a solution that will result in a must-have iPod accessory for all iPod users.”
