Core 2 Duo comes to the Apple MacBook
Apple has completed their transition to the Intel Core 2 Duo processor on their mobile product line by adding the new dual core processor to the Apple MacBook line.
The new MacBooks will all feature the Intel Core 2 Duo. The low end white colored model which starts at $1099 comes with a 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 512MB of RAM and a 60GB HDD. The mid range model (also in white) has a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of memory, 80GB HDD, and a double layer SuperDrive for $1299. Finally the high end MacBook has the same 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM, 120GB HDD, and a double layer SuperDrive for $1499.. oh yes, it’s in black.
The high level features on the MacBook include the following:
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor (did we mention that already?)
- Built in iSight camera
- 1.08 inch thin design
- Front Row and Apple remote
- MagSafe Power adapter
- Lithium polymer battery
One nice thing – the new MacBook’s can be upgraded to 2GB of RAM.
Is it worth the upgrade if you just got an Apple MacBook? Probably not – even if Apple is touting a 25% percent performance bump.. you probably won’t get anywhere near that.. yet that is. However, if you’re still thinking about getting a new MacBook – then this looks darn attractive if you ask me.. so much so that I’m seriously thinking about one now. I know. I’ve said this before.
