Nokia plans to start offering the N92 mobile phone in various Asian markets over the next several weeks. The N92 supports DVB-H television broadcasts and will launch first in Vietnam and Indonesia.

Nokia had planned to launch the phone this summer but decided to hold off the launch to wait for additional commercial launches of the DVB-H networks. Vietname Multimedia Corporation will launch  it’s own DVB-H service beginning on November 18th and plans to offer the Nokia N92 as a model for it’s customers to use. The service will offer eight TV channels including one channel dedicated to TV on demand as well as four radio channels.

DVB-H stands for Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld and is an open standard for mobile television. Unfortunately the way content is protected may differ from network to network.
