TiVo is now selling a Glo premium remote conrol on their website. For those of you with a TiVo box – whether Series2 or Series3, you can now upgrade that remote to a new pimpin Glo remote instead. So what’s unique about the Glo premium you might ask?

  • Backlit keys for those dark rooms when you’re trying to be all snuggly with your loved one
  • Learning capable – programmable to control power, input, volume, and mute  on your TV and receiver. You can program the code or you can have the remote learn the codes directly from your TV or receiver’s remote. Don’t confuse with a true universal remote though
  • DVR switch – control two TiVo boxes in the same room with the flick of a switch
  • Gloss black finish with a chrome trim.. woooo
  • Controls most TiVo boxes
  • Requires four AAA batteries and they’re not included (what the heck?)

Here are the DVRs that the Glo premium remote works with:

  • TiVo Series2
  • TiVo Series3
  • Humax Series2
  • Philips Series1
  • Philips, Hughes, Samsung, and RCA DIRECTV DVR boxes with TiVo service
  • Compatible with Pioneer, Toshiba, and Humax DVD recorder boxes with TiVo service (although lacks DVD-specific keys)
  • Does not work with Sony boxes or the Toshiba DVD player with TiVo service (SD-H400).
