The top dozen high tech toys for 2007
With Christmas fast approaching, it can only mean one thing for me – it’s time to start thinking about what to get for my friends and families. Some of the hardest people to shop for (aside from my wife) are my nephews and nieces. I quite honestly do not know what is the coolest thing for kids these days and since I’m a geek in many ways.. I’d like to get something high techy…
Well lucky for me the independent consumer organization Oppenheim Toy Portfolio has released their list of the most notable (and forgettable) high tech toys for this holiday season. Some of the hottest toys this Christmas include MP3 player and Digital Cameras for young children. The top dozen high tech toys for 2007 are the following:
- NooBoo Symphonic Stacker (Manhattan Toy)
- Lamaze Clap with Me Monkey (RC2)
- iPlay Zoom Around Garage (International Playthings)
- Lucky the Incredible Wonder Pup (Zizzle)
- Hokey Pokey Musical Skirt (Acting Out)

Oppenheim Toy Portfolio’s Top High Tech Toy Picks
NEW YORK –(Business Wire)– Nov. 2, 2006 The independent consumer organization Oppenheim Toy Portfolio reports on the notable (and forgettable) high tech toys for this holiday season. “High tech toys are a strong category once again. We found better uses of technology that are more age appropriate and child-centered than in recent years”, notes President Joanne Oppenheim. “Winning toys put the child in charge instead of the toy telling the child what to do.” One of hot new contested areas are preschool gadgets, i.e., MP3 Players and Digital Cameras for young children. Co-author Stephanie Oppenheim notes, “On the plus side it’s great to have relatively inexpensive versions of adult gadgets for kids to enjoy, unfortunately many were not up to the quality standards of this younger tech-savvy generation. We were also concerned with the lack of volume control on some of the MP3 players.” Full reviews are in the newly released guide, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio 2007 Edition: The Best Toys, Books & DVDs for Kids (ISBN 0972105069/$10); available in bookstores and on-line at http://www.toyportfolio.com. -0-
