Despite the ongoing rumors that Microsoft may cut the price of the Xbox 360, there is NO planned price cuts for the Microsoft next generation console anytime soon – despite the fact that Sony’s Playstation 3 launch is literally a few weeks away.

Some had believed that Microsoft would launch a round of cuts because Xbox 360 manufacturing costs had lessed over the last year. Yet Microsoft still loses money on every Xbox 360 sold (but definitely less than a year ago).

With Sony having problems with the PS3 and Nintendo releasing a slightly lower end game console in a few weeks, Microsoft doesn’t see the need to lower the price of the 360 at this point and you know what? it makes sense. Consider this – had Sony been able to produce many more PS3 units than what is now expected AND if Sony introduced the PS3 at a lower price point then PERHAPS Microsoft would see the need to lower the cost of the 360. However, the Entertainment and Devices Division within Microsoft had good financial growth this past year and lowering prices certainly will not help the bottom line anytime soon.

For now, Microsoft is actually sitting pretty with the 360.
